Before Roseville, I served two terms on the San José City Council (District 1, 2007–2014), where I chaired the Public Safety, Finance & Strategic Support Committee and helped steer the nation’s tenth-largest city through the Great Recession. Along the way I chaired the Santa Clara County Local Agency Formation Commission (LAFCO) and was founding chair of the Silicon Valley Regional Interoperability Authority, and I served on the Rules & Open Government, Neighborhood Services & Education (vice chair), and Community & Economic Development committees, the Family/Domestic Violence Advisory Board (co-chair), the Redevelopment Agency Board, and the San José Sports Authority and Convention & Visitors Bureau boards.
